With apples and kiwifruits, grapes represent one of the Novafruit’s historical products. It is a large share of the market in which we have concentrated since the beginning of our activity, investing passion, experience and professionalism.
Grape production area
In Italy, we load our grapes from the two main suitable areas in the country’s south: Puglia and Sicily.
The main varieties we deal with are those with seeds, especially Black Magic, Palieri and Red Globe among the red grapes, and Vittoria and Italia for the white ones. Over the last years, at Novafruit, we have increased the availability of seedless grape varieties. Dark, red and white, to meet the increasing needs of our customers.
Novafruit also guarantees Spain full loads of grapes or mixed grapes and other products, such as plums. Furthermore, to cover more seasonality and meet the demands of our customers, we cover large areas of production in most of the world: Chile, Peru, the United States and South Africa, and in the last period, we have also started partnerships in Mexico and Brazil.
Target markets
Regarding the shipping, Novafruit’s long experience in treating and packing fruits for long distances allows us to serve even the most remote destinations.
We ship to Central and South America, as well as to West Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Indian Islands, paying the utmost attention to the different specifications and needs of different contexts and different markets.
The work we are doing and constantly developing in the air transport of grapes allows us to increase volumes substantially. Air shipments will enable us to anticipate and extend the fruit’s seasonality and cover market niches that would not be accessible only by sea shipments. Furthermore, the air transport allows us to introduce our customers to more delicate varieties, unsuitable for long transits.
Grape Packaging
We are aware of the typical fragility of this fruit, which is why we dedicate the utmost care to the packaging by using sponges and ethylene absorbers to protect better and preserve the quality and integrity of our grapes.
We usually pack in 5, 7 and 8 Kgs in bulk or carry bags and clamshell punnets. Novafruit uses cartons, wood or plastic boxes according to the specific customer’s needs.
In line with the need for greater attention to the environmental impact that we see growing in our customers and markets and that Novafruit has always shared, we are also developing a line of eco-sustainable packaging aimed at limiting waste and reducing environmental impact.
